Finding the Words: What to Expect
Finding the Words is a 4 session workshop all suicide loss survivors.
Each session will be 2 hours. We will meet on the Upper East side of New York City. We will come together as a group where we listen without advice or judgement, and validate and witness as we share our pain and memories. After a brief introduction we come together to learn, play and create.
This is a Mixed Media workshops, no artistic experience required. A supply kit is included in this workshop. Additional materials will be available for you to use during the workshop.

What to expect each session:

Session 1: Support Circle to go over guidelines, introductions and a little bit about you. I will have a sample of Finding the Words completed project to share examples of some possibilities. Each person will work on a 12x16 page spread. We will work on creating and connecting. We will close by gathering all our materials and having a quick check in before we depart.

Session 2: Check in with a centering exercise. We then will move to demonstration of tearing/cutting the cards, rounding the corners, and adding details to the cards. You will continue to add final touches to your work and start to think about what words you would like to place on your cards. We will close by gathering all our materials and having a quick check in before we depart.
Session 3: Check in with a centering exercise. Here we will continue to embellish the cards and we will brainstorm messages to write on the back of the cards. We will close by gathering all our materials and having a quick check in before we depart.

Session 4: Check in with a centering exercise. Here we will share our process in creating these cards and everyone is invited to talk about the art and the messaging they chose to create their cards. We will have light snacks available.
The cost of this workshop includes a supply kit.
All proceeds go to activities for suicide loss survivors, including a scholarship fund for future workshops. A portion of the proceeds will support the All Souls Church for giving us a physical space to come together.
